Let There Be Light!

Please read Genesis 1. (The Message is a great place to read this account.)

Genesis 1... What can I say? It is truly spectacular! Sometimes we forget the magnificence of the creation and the majesty of our God. But not when we read the account of creation, where we are brought right into the wonder of it all.

In Genesis 1, God reveals himself as the Creator ... of everything! And even more spectacular is the fact that He did it all simply by speaking. His creative power is manifested simply by speaking.

And He begins by creating Light. "God spoke: 'Light!' And light appeared." John Philips says it this way: "God said 'Light Be' and light was." You see, when God speaks, it is done.

When Jesus speaks, it is done. Mark 4:39 tells us, "He rebuked the wind and said to the sea, Hush! be still. And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm."

Heb. 11:3 says, "By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the Word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible."

Remember this: God can speak something into being that wasn't even in existence before. And God can speak something into your life which wasn't even in existence before. Our God speaks light into darkness. Our God can speak light into the deepest well of uncertainty and darkness and death. I have seen Him do it. I can testify to this. Never lose heart.

And so, the very first stroke of creation was light. God brought light into the darkness. His very first words were, "Let there be light."

Where there is darkness God speaks light. And the spirit of darkness must leave. So today I say: ·

Where there is darkness of thought or darkness of mind (you know if this is true for you today), we proclaim: Let there be light!·

Where there is confusion, we say: Let there be light!·

Where the confusion is spiritual ... where other theologies or philosophies have entered in and crowded out Truth: Let there be light!·

Where lies of the enemy have been believed and have taken up residence and are competing and even overruling Truth in our minds: Let there be light!·

Where sin has been allowed a place and the darkness is the sin: Let there be light and clarity of thinking. Let the one in sin recognize it and see clearly, by the inner power of Your Spirit. Show her the way to come out of it! Change her mind! Let there be light!·

And where there is darkness concerning the path before her, God shine your light into the darkness. Your Word (Truth) is a lamp unto our feet. Light up the first step and then next and then the next. Let there be light!

Where there is any darkness, we say, Holy Spirit bring light today!

Remember God speaks into being that which was not even in existence before. Never lose heart!
